Hot on the heels of one dark beer infused with Brettanomyces-derived fruity funk – the dark ale Brett There Be Rock – Green Gully Brewing release another beer in which dark malts, plenty of hops, and their farmhouse culture are set to work. This time around, the latest Pink Boots Society hop blend from Yakima Chief Hops (featuring Ahtanum, El Dorado, HBC 638 and Idaho 7 for those who like to know such things) is in the mix, hence the name and loud label.
As for the beer (and as was the case with Brett There Be Rock), it's like little else on the market in this time of survival, with each facet bringing something to the party while also working to twist each other into new shapes. Thus, you'll find aniseed and blackcurrants alongside creamy dark chocolate, some phenolic farmhouse funk alongside roasted malts, and a finish that isn't bitter, as you'd expect from a straight black IPA, but instead possesses a cleansing quality which suggests the aforementioned house culture has pulled the pH down a little.
