This trio of Fox Friday WA-only releases may have a secret link; a tasting companion noted they seem to spell out a foxy fable, one that needs a silver bullet on the hunter’s moon to kill the wolf. And here I was thinking Silver Bullet was either a Bob Seger reference, or a coy riff on an existing large format Japanese macro beer. On reflection, perhaps it’s best we stick to the liquid...
Although it's the strongest of this narrative, Silver Bullet’s septet of hops are more restrained that one might assume. Here, an efficient, super clean arc is detailed with limey licks, muted dank pineapple, and herbal Saaz notes. The intent here is crisp slaking, one silver bullet at a time.
It’s a theme shared by Hunter’s Moon: lean malt base and hop forward character, although with just enough oompft to land in West Coast pale territory. Keeping complexity moderate and drinkability maxed, lime and pine notes flit through the dry length, one breezily caressed by a fine-pointed bitterness.
And, for those done with bullets and hunting, there’s an Irish red called Beware Of The Wolf. Welcoming malty tones catch garnet sparkles in the light. Caramel and light toffee present with a subtle nuttiness adding depth. Likewise, the lightest of roast drifts throughout this very drinkable beer.
