The Holgate Brewhouse is one of the bona fide legends of the Aussie beer industry, which must by default put its founder Paul Holgate in equal classification.
They and he have been banging out beers from their Woodend brewery for nigh on two decades, but with their latest champion trophy coming just a couple of weeks ago at the Australian International Beer Awards, there’s obviously no resting on laurels when it comes to the quality of their output.
If you’d like to make the most of a rare Sydney opportunity to meet the man behind the beers, get along to Hotel Sweeney’s on Thursday, May 31, as Paul heads to the rooftop to share some beers – including some rare ones at that. They’ll be tapping the following:

- Sour Brett Ale 2018 Vintage
He should be there about 5pm and the beers definitely will be.
