Burnley Brewing Oktoberfest Launch (VIC)

When you head brewer learned his craft in Germany, can you really pass up the chance to celebrate Oktoberfest?

For Burnley Brewing the answer is clearly no, with the Bridge Road brewpub turning its home into a celebration of all things Munich between October 5 and October 21.

Beer wise, the festivities look to be about as authentic as they can be too with head brewer Michael Stanzel brewing Oktoberfestbiers from throughout the ages.

The three different beers are a Dunkles Märzen (dark lager), Helles Märzen (amber lager) and the beer festival goers would best recognise today: a Helles. Michael has also brewed a Bockbier, Rauchbier and a Weizen to further boost the Bavarian feel.

But it's not just beer that makes a beer festival, it's the food too.

For two weeks, the Burnley kitchen will be rotating through menu items that include Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), Weisswurst, Wiener Schnitzel, Pretzel and some huge roast chickens.

NB. Burnley, October 5 is just opening night of the celebrations. The brewpub will be celebrating Oktoberfest right up until October 21.
