Some time back, the team at Wolf of the Willows selected a few Lark whisky barrels and sent them on a journey across Bass Strait.
When they arrived in Melbourne, they were filled with the Wolf's Imperial Johnny Smoked Porter and left to age.
Once they were done working their magic, they were returned to Tasmania and refilled with Lark single malt whisky.
It's the start of The Barrel Exchange Project 2018 that will see Wolf of the Willows and Lark release barrel aged beer and beer aged whisky at the same time – read our story on it here.
A few staves from those casks ended up in the chef's hands at Fancy Hank's, where they were used to fill the smoker and, on October 18, the Melbourne venue will be hosting Feast of the Barrel – a night of craft beer, Tasmanian single malt whisky and BBQ.
The menu aims to show how food, beer and whisky can cut, contrast and complement each other with brewers and distillers from the collaborators there on the night.
