With so much talk of going sober in July, the alcohol-free brewers at Heaps Normal have decided to take a different approach to the month. Believing it's important to continually have an open discussion where we can all respectfully challenge the pros and cons of different approaches to improving our drinking culture, they've launched "Normal July".
The idea is outlined in the video below but to sum it up, it's to encourage everyone to just do their best, try their hardest and cut back on their alcohol intake over the long term, believing that it's through those means that change can be more meaningful and lasting.
To celebrate you just doing your best to drink less in July, the brewing company is giving away a brand new car. Actually, it's not new at all, it's a very old delivery van, dubbed The Red Rattler, that will be filled with beer and products from Heaps Normal's mates. But if you win it, it will certainly be new to you.
To enter, all you have to do is head to the Heaps Normal website and let the team know in 50 words or less about a time you were “Just doing your best” before July 31. The public will then have until the end of August to publicly vote on a short list of entrants.
As part of them doing their best, Heaps Normal are donating $10 from every case sold through their website for the duration of the campaign to support Hello Sunday Morning, an Australian charity on a mission to help people to change their relationship with alcohol.
