Prancing Pony's Adelaide Pop-Up Opens

Summer in Adelaide's CBD is set to feel a little more like the Adelaide Hills, with Prancing Pony operating a pop-up taproom from mid-December until the end of April.

The 16-tap venue will be located at 266 Rundle Street, Adelaide and is scheduled to open on December 15 and run across summer, with the possibility that it becomes a permanent fixture in the city.

Prancing Pony's CEO and cofounder Corinna Steeb says the idea of opening a second home in Adelaide has been in the works for close to two years but this pop-up only fell into place over a number of weeks after the venue became available. She says their plan is to bring a slice of the Adelaide Hills brewery to the city, while also working with other venues to activate the city's East End precinct over summer.

“The whole idea is to bring the Pony and the Adelaide Hills to town,” Corinna says.

“For the past two years, we’ve been collecting wooden workbenches and restoring them in a garage so that if a second venue were to pop up we’d be ready. We focus on recycling and reusing in the whole Brewshed so, other than the kitchen equipment, there will pretty much nothing that’s new."

Along with that refurbished feel and 16 Pony beers, non-beer drinkers will be catered for with a selection of local wines, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. The food menu will offer a couple of staple dishes from the brewery, as well as ‘Flammekueche’ (also known as Flammkuchen) - a traditional French-German dish, similar to thin pizza.

It comes at a perfect time too given that borders are reopening, England and Australia are set to face off for the Ashes at the Adelaide Oval and that the Adelaide Fringe and WOMADelaide are both going to run while the pop-up is open.

Seems like a good time to enjoy Rundle...
