Looking back seven years, it's difficult to appreciate what a gamble it would have been to quit your safe corporate jobs and bet your life and savings on the vision of opening a little brewpub in Cheltenham.
Yet, that's exactly what Dereck and Diti Hales (pictured above) did when they founded Bad Shepherd way back in 2015. Now, it's frankly hard to imagine a beer world without them!
To celebrate the not-always-smooth journey to becoming a local legend, they're hosting a long weekend of events to which you, their beloved "flock", are invited to join.
On November 25 they're hosting an epic degustation – seven courses (naturally) of American BBQ-inspired dishes, paired with seven of their beers. You can read more about the menu, and book a spot at the table, here.
November 26 will usher in the Big Birthday Bash, a free family-friendly event featuring six one-off beers, live music, a hot wings challenge, all-day BBQ menu, karma keg, lawn games (plus prizes), raffles and face painting.
Finally, November 27 brings with it a true Sunday session, starting at midday with $5 tinnies, 50 cent wings, and trivia (3pm). They'll also be raising money for the food charity Food For Change through every glass of their Triple Dry-hopped American Pale sold. Delicious, delicious charity.
So, all that remains is to pick a day and come say: "Happy Birthday!".
