Since its inception in 2019, Blobfish has become one of the highlights on the local beer calendar. Taking place at North Melbourne's Meat Market, the festival is a colourful dedication to all beers weird, wild, funky, fascinating and perhaps a little obscure.
Putting on that kind of display requires 21 of the country's finest proponents of the aforementioned very broad church of beer styles to come together to create a lineup you're unlikely to see anywhere else; if you're into sours, saisons, barrel-aged blends, fruity fermentations and rare small-batch beers, this is one you'll not want to miss.
This year's event takes place on July 22 over two sessions, one during the day and the other at night:
- Day Session: 11.30am to 4pm
- Night Session: 5pm to 9.30pm
Food will come courtesy of Bluebonnet Barbecue, Dingo Ate My Taco, Pie Thief and Two Buck Shuck Oyster Bar, while there'll be other drinks on offer from three standalone bars; Rattenhund Bar by Hop Nation, Mezcal, Wine & Cocktails by Mr West, and a Takeaway Bottlo by Carwyn Cellars.
Tickets are $80 all-inclusive, setting you on your way with a festival guide, a branded Blobfish glass (to keep), and 60ml pours of the 44 different festival beers from all 22 participating breweries (scroll down to view the lineup).
