Several years in the planning and making, Mr West and Garage Project are ready to reveal a rather special collaboration.
'Brewtal' (not to be confused with Brisbane's Brewtal Brewers) actually takes its inspiration from the wine world, where the Brutal Wine Corporation is fronting a movement promoting wines made with organic grapes, natural fermentation and nothing else.
The crew from Mr West got chatting to one of the BWC founders way back in 2019, asking if they might be keen to extend the project to beer. They said yes and the wheels were set in motion for a project that involved hand picking grapes and other local fruits in Nelson, New Zealand, fermenting and blending in Garage Project's Wild Workshop in Wellington, and ultimately ending up back in Melbourne, more than four years later, with three Brewtal beer-wine-fruit hybrids to show for their efforts.
The launch of Brewtal Rouge, Blanc and Rose is happening on the weekend of April 5-6 at Mr West, and will take place in two parts over two days, the first being an epic Garage Project tap takeover, and the second being a Meet The Maker event with Garage Project co-founder Jos Ruffell.
