Bloody Bonza Belge: Belgian Aussie Brews

Belgian Beer Week at Saccharomyces Beer Café is always a treat for lovers of beers from the world's greatest brewing nation.

As part of the 2024 edition, the Fish Lane venue is showcasing some of the finest locally-brewed Belgian beers at Bloody Bonza Belge.

Hitting taps will be beers from the likes of Madocke, Fick, Slow Lane and Caldera, and there's a rather special element too: the event features the debut of a new brewing company from two of the South East Queensland beer scene's best-known figures.

Ian Watson and Rocky Reed have created La Petit Rocher, a Belgian-inspired brewing project that turns their passion into liquid, and they're kicking off Bloody Bonza Belge with an intimate guided tasting of four of their beers.

They'll talk about their inspiration and brewing process, and open up to guests for a Q&A during which you can pick their brains about all things LPR and Belgian beer.

Tickets will be available to the public soon, but members of The Crafty Pint's beer club, The Crafty Cabal, can get in early and receive the VIP treatment: a discounted price of just $10 for the four beers and the best seats in the house.

Sign in (or sign up as a member) here or via The Crafty Pint app to grab discounted member tickets for you and your mates.

The guided tasting and Q&A session runs from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. After that, you can race off to watch State of Origin or stick around to keep chatting with Ian and Rocky and checking out the other Aussie-Belgian beers on tap.
