If you're sick of the supermarkets and big box retailers sucking all your cash and leaving you with an empty feeling of pointless consumption, it's time to reconnect with the people who make the things that make everyday sustenance a little more special.
The Little Food Market is a new celebration of our many, varied and exceptionally talented local and small scale producers.
Taking place at Melbourne's iconic Royal Exhibition Building on July 19-21, you'll be able to indulge in a dizzying array of lovely things, from liquids including wine, beer, spirits, tea and coffee to the freshest of fresh produce, pantry essentials and the all-important sweet treats. There'll even be a host of homeware stalls where you can check out custom kitchen accoutrements including knifeware, ceramics, cleaning products and much, much more.
They'll have a special stage set up where you can nerd out to all manner of interesting subjects, with notable food writers Dani Valent and Hilary McNevin on hosting duties while top foodie types help you discover the magic of fermentation, foment a love of cheese, and shake up some award-winning cocktails; these sessions are free but there are limited seats so you'll want to get your bum on one pretty quick.
Whether you're in for a browse or a feast, it'll be three days of wall-to-wall, good food galore. Heck, to show how serious this festival is, they'll even have showbags.
