Gin Drinker’s Toolkit Book Launch & Gin Party @ Milton Common

Okay, so it’s not beer. But when your favourite Brisbane-based Crafty Pint writer with a German surname writes a book, you want to hear about it, right?

Following Beer Drinker’s Toolkit, Crafty Pint writer Mick Wüst has gone and written Gin Drinker’s Toolkit - a short and entertaining book that explores all things gin and doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Every new book needs a book launch. And when the book is full of gin, so is the launch party.

The launch party will be upstairs in the Gallery/Distillery at Milton Common - home to Common Ground Spirits - from 6:30pm until 9:00pm on Thursday October 31.

You can expect…

  • Normal book launch stuff - book signing, Q&A with Mick, pretending to listen while you figure out how to sneak to the bar to get another drink.
  • A guided tasting through Common Ground’s gin range, with Mick giving tips on tasting and distiller Justin Reddy giving insights into each gin.
  • A distillery tour, where Justin talks through the gin-making process using straightforward language - no jargon allowed.
  • A cocktail demo with a skilled bartender showing how to make a classic cocktail with low effort and big impact.
  • Cocktail specials, food specials, and specials on gin bottles.

You can buy Mick's books from his website to get a personalised message, or from bookshops everywhere. There'll also be copies available on the night.

Tickets are just $20 (+bf) and include 4 x 15ml tasters of gin from Common Ground Spirits.

Milton Common is at 35 Railway Terrace, (next to Milton Station).

About Gin Drinker's Toolkit

Gin Drinker's Toolkit is for anyone who wants to know more about gin, whether you're a new drinker or a long-time lover who wants to soak up every last drop. It's more like a chat in a bar than sitting through a lecture. It's like going to giniversity.

It’s got everything you want to know about gin:

  • The good, the bad, and the ugly of gin’s history.
  • An overview of how gin’s made, and the botanicals that give gin its many flavours.
  • A rundown of gin styles (yes, gin has different styles) and some notable brands.
  • How to level up your gin game: from glassware to garnishes, how to taste gin, mastering the G&T and exploring mixers and cocktails.
  • Ideas for pairing gins with foods, moods, and even movies.
