Brewpub becomes beer hall as Bad Shepherd prepare to host their annual Oktoberfest celebration.
Step into the Cheltenham brewery on September 21 and you can expect a little twist on what you normally see as they turn the taps over to German (and German-inspired) beers, dish up Bavarian food from the kitchen, and create the requisite ambience with German music.
The beers will be a mix of absolute classic from Rothaus Pils Tannenzapfle and Maisel's Weisse to Bad Shepherd's own Kaffee Schwarzbier, German Pilsner, and Marzen, plus local guests such as Stomping Ground's Schwarzbier. To go with that will be a food menu featuring a Bavarian meat tray with pretzels, bratwurst and currywurst.
Throw in a few prizes for best dressed (dig out your dirndl and lederhosen for a chance to win), a pretzel eating contest, and other games and you've got all the ingredients for a suitably German day out.
Early bird tickets are just $5 which gets you in and a pint of pilsner in your hand, or you can grab a 'Bier Mich' ticket which includes a welcome pilsner, commemorate stein, and subsequent $10 fills of Bad Shepherd's German Pilsner on the day.
