If you were to jot down a short list of unlikely combinations, "Oktoberfest" and "avocado harvest" is likely to be up there. Yet, that's exactly what you'll get as the Earth Beer Company marks the Wiesn as only they can.
On September 21 you can join the crew in Cudgen on the ol' avocado farm that surrounds the brewery as they celebrate the fruits of this year's harvest, then head to the shade for a well-earned beer and some German-themed fun.
They'll have three German style beers on offer – including the famous avocado kölsch – and German food from local producers Yummo! Bratwurst and Byron Bay Preztels.
For entertainment they'll have live music from Sugar Leaves from 3pm, followed immediately by a pretzel eating competition, then a stein holding competition, then the announcement of the "Best Dressed" competition (yes, wearing of lederhosen and dirndl is strongly encouraged).
It's a family and pet friendly event, with lawn games and more to help keep the kiddies entertained.
The fun starts at 11am, with no bookings necessary.
