FODMAP Friendly Historic Pub Tour (NSW)

With such an array of flavours available these days, it’s sometimes easy to forget about the people who can't freely indulge in all of them. Be it a gluten intolerance, vegan diet, religious restriction, or whatever else, for some people having a good dining out experience can be a slightly tricky proposition.

With that in mind, the people behind Lewis & Son and Wilde Beer have teamed up to put on an afternoon showcasing that dietary restrictions need not be so restrictive – even when it comes to pubs and beer.

Part feast, part food education, part historical journey, they’ll be taking you through a tour of some of Sydney’s iconic pub venues while enjoying an array of food and beer that won't skimp on flavour but does cut out the stuff that’s most commonly problematic for those on disruptive diets.

Each of the three venues visited will be serving up a FODMAP-friendly beer and food menu (which is to say dishes that omit the ingredients responsible for causing a lot of dietary problems) – all of which will also be free of gluten, nitrates, artificial colour, preservatives, et al.

At the head of the table you’ll have an accredited dietician taking you through the food side, explaining everything from the menus to how to decipher food labels through to planning meals that work for all diets. And through it all the folks at Sydney Pub Tours will be guiding you around on a walking tour of The Rocks, giving you a glimpse into the city’s rather interesting past.

While places are limited, they’re not just limited to those on a diet – everyone's welcome at the table. However, you will need to book early to get a spot, which you can do here. Tickets are $75.
