As if lining up a whole seven days of events in celebration of the wonders of good beer wasn’t enough, here at The Crafty Pint we thought we should give you good people the chance to win stuff while enjoying Good Beer Week. So we spoke to the venues that are hosting events, a few other craft beer venues that aren’t but wanted to take part – and even a couple more who were happy to throw something into the prize pool just because they’re nice people. And what we’ve ended up with is a treasure hunt of sorts that will reward those who get the most heavily involved in Good Beer Week – and those who make us laugh.
There are thousands of bucks worth of prizes up for grabs and all you have to do is send photos of yourselves in action during Good Beer Week to be in with a chance of winning them. OK, there’s a little more to it than that, but hopefully not too much…
If you attend a Good Beer Week event, ask the staff at the venue what their nominated “treasure” is and take your photo with it.
If you visit a Crafty Crawl venue during Good Beer Week, buy a stubby or pot of Aussie craft beer and ask the staff to reveal their “treasure”. Then take your photo with it.
Post your photos to Crafty’s Twitter – www.twitter.com/TheCraftyPint – including the hashtag #craftycrawl and the name of the venue in the tweet. We need the hashtag to be able to find and count all the photos.
All participating venues are featured on the Good Beer Week maps that have been distributed in their thousands around Melbourne and Victoria. Alternatively, you can download a copy here.
There are three main prizes worth hundreds of bucks each for the people who send in the most photos. (NB – Remember it’s one photo per person per venue or event) There is also a prize for the funniest, most creative photo sent in during the week. And then we’ll draw at random from anyone who submits three or more photos for the remaining prizes in the pool.
The list of prizes is below and the nominated “treasures” include trophies, things stuck on walls and ceilings, amazing pieces of furniture and more. At The Local Taphouse you’ll be required to head to the upstairs bar to find theirs, while one Smith Street venue will require you to don a pair of horns…
Then there’s The Kooinda Triangle… The guys at Kooinda don’t have a venue you can visit so they’ve offered up an amazing prize and something of a challenge within a challenge for you. They’re giving away a 50l keg of their beer plus their pop up bar from which to serve it, delivered to your home for a party by the brewers themselves. (NB – the site for the party must be within a 20km radius of their brewery in Heidelberg)
To be in with a chance of winning, you need to buy a Kooinda beer from Speakeasy Cellars, Deco AND Penny Blue during Good Beer Week and post a photo of yourself with said beers at the venues as above, but also include @kooindabrewery in the tweet.
We hope that’s not too tricky. In case you think it is, here’s what’s on offer for the main prizes:

We expect to add more to the list as the week goes on, but reckon it’s a pretty good incentive to get out and about to as many events and venues as possible and support the growing beer scene. Entries open at midday on May 16 and close at midnight on May 22 (so sorry to the keen couple who tweeted their photo from the Great Northern on the evening of May 14 – also, a hint if you’re back in there, the bar’s “treasure” is the Feral sign hanging over the bar!). Crafty Pint competition rules can be found in the ABOUT section of this website. On top of those, as stated earlier, it’s one photo per event / venue per person.
Good luck! And have a great Good Beer Week!
PS If the staff don’t know what you’re on about – sorry. Just take a cool photo at the venue and submit it as stated above anyway!
