Job Description: Maintenance Officer

Capital Brewing Co is one of Australia’s largest independently owned craft breweries and has been making award-winning Good Natured Brews from our Canberra brewery and taproom since mid-2017. We have recently achieved B Corp Certification, one of only 3 breweries in Australia to hold the certification, and we are the first brewery in Australia to certify carbon neutral under the Federal Government Climate Active Program. 

We are dedicated to making great beer with an uncompromising focus on quality. 7 of our beers have featured in the GABS hottest 100, the most of any brewery in the country. We all love what we do, work hard, and have fun doing it.

The Maintenance Officer's role is a hands-on role, responsible for maintenance across key areas of the brewery, packaging hall, and taproom venue.  This role will also assist in managing external contractors and tradespeople where works cannot be completed in-house, ensuring all required documentation is in place before work commences, and overseeing contractors on site where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete preventative and scheduled maintenance across all areas of Capital Brewing Co
  • Manages preventative maintenance schedule including in-house maintenance and externally contracted maintenance
  • Performs regular building walk-throughs and inspection checks to identify opportunities for proactive works, safety, housekeeping, waste or maintenance issues
  • Promptly responds to reported maintenance and safety issues throughout the site including the brew house, packaging hall, and ad hoc maintenance needs throughout the taproom venue
  • Effectively manages and prioritises requests as necessary to ensure minimum disruption to brewing and packaging schedules
  • Escorts other contractors for emergency/critical works throughout the building as necessary
  • Provides clear communication with other team members to ensure regular updates on repairs and maintenance
  • Demonstrates commitment to Capital Brewing Co’s safety culture by following all safety procedures, prioritising work to ensure safety remains our first priority and fostering a reporting culture across teams
  • Carries out safety inductions for all new starters and contractors arriving on site
  • Orders and monitors spare parts inventory
  • Assists in keeping areas throughout Capital Brewing Co are kept clean, tidy and safe at all times

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Preferably trade-qualified with a passion for delivering high-quality work
  • Competent user of G Suite, Excel, and Google Sheets would be advantageous 
  • A flexible individual who has a positive approach to problem-solving
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Able to prioritise multiple jobs in a fast-paced environment
  • An awareness of health and safety procedures, particularly around contractor management
  • Well-organized with strong communication skills
