Prancing Pony are expanding the team at their Adelaide Hill-based brewery.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Sales Business Development Manager – Key position. 

Location: Adelaide Hills

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time $75,000 to $85,000 a year plus bonuses.

The Prancing Pony Brewery is an independently owned brewery located in the Adelaide Hills and is recognised for its high-quality, award-winning beers. 

Established in 2011, the Pony has a built a strong brand presence over the years and is well known for its reliability, authenticity and vast variety of beers.  The brand attracts a strong and loyal and strong following across Australia.

Over the years, the brewery has enjoyed significant growth, and Pony beers can be found in  bars, clubs, restaurants, liquor stores as well as the national chains. 

The brewery is adjacent to its brewery restaurant which is a desirable destination in a great location and attracts both locals and visitors, alike. 

This is a full-time position based in the Adelaide Hills.

Role Summary: 

This is an exciting opportunity in the Craft Beer Industry. We are on the hunt for an experienced Sales Business Development Manager to join our small, dynamic team based in the Adelaide Hills. Reporting to the CEO, the focus of the role will be on wholesale accounts for both on-premise and off-premise. 

Key tasks:

Manage all key accounts including independent banner groups and ALM account customers.

  • Develop new and maintain existing customer relationships with venues and liquor stores. 
  • Development of promotional and sales program for independent banner groups. 
  • Use a creative sales approach and market research to develop new leads and identify growth opportunities. 
  • Develop and implement marketing programs for brand development, market awareness, market positioning and market demand generation. 
  • Build and manage a high-performance sales team.
  • Work with the CEO in the implementation and delivery of the monthly/yearly budget and strategic Sales and Marketing plan.
  • Management and of the company CRM system. 
  • Furbish weekly/monthly sales reports and identify trends.
  • Create and manage promotional events such as tastings and festival/events.
  • Build a strong knowledge base of the local and international craft brewing industry 
  • Offer high levels of service and help the business to maintain a reputation for quality.
  • At all times represent the brand in a professional manner. 

Experience and Skills

  • Professional with a minimum of 3-year of Account Management in the Beer Industry.
  • Proven track record of success. 
  • Great organisational skills, proactive attitude with high attention to detail and strong Microsoft Office and CRM user experience.  
  • Consultative, yet confident and persuasive with strong sales and negotiation skills. 
  • A strong and energetic team player and excellent self-motivator.
  • Strong verbal and written communicator. 
  • Ability to work in a small but fast-paced environment and adapt to new trends and opportunities. 
  • A passion for Craft Beer.

Education / Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications, preferably in Business Management/Sales or Marketing)


  • Renumeration in line with experience. Company car, tools of the trade and a generous beer allowance. 
  • Bonus payment program in place.
