We are seeking an enthusiastic and fun person to fulfil support duties as a National Asset Health Team Leader, ensuring the health of our machinery and creating an excellent experience for our customers and their end consumers.

This role is perfect for someone with experience as a packaging engineer, an electrician with good mechanical skills, a skilled maintenance fitter or any packaging guru that can demonstrate exceptional troubleshooting and repair skills. If you possess the ability to troubleshoot complex machinery and learn quickly on the job, we want to hear from you.

The successful applicant will be expected to travel often as we are a mobile service. This will primarily be in VIC, NSW, and QLD. Other projects further afield are to be expected occasionally as we have customers in WA, TAS, as well as New Zealand and SE Asia occasionally.

Roles and responsibilities

Asset Health

  1. Maximise the uptime of all East Coast Canning Equipment (assets)
  2. Minimise any risk to people and products caused by assets
  3. You will be the primary point of contact for running repairs during breakdown situations (supported by the Head of Operations and Senior Line Operators).
  4. Create and work within a Preventative Maintenance process and system
  5. Document Breakdown reports
  6. Enter, and uphold the integrity of, data relating to asset health

Machinery Installations

  1. Actively manage the installation of CODI machinery in Australia and surrounding area
  2. Manage an ECC team on the continuous servicing of install customers equipment
  3. Continuously develop new processes to improve installations

Expectations

  1. You will be expected to travel to sites of breakdown when necessary
  2. You may (with training) be expected to be able to operate the machine from time to time to relieve Operations staff
  3. You will be expected to be on site at least 25% of the work week. The balance of your other duties can be performed in a mobile capacity (at customer sites), or from home. This is a highly flexible role during times outside of structured work tasks.
  4. You will be expected to travel to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane approximately 2-5 days per month per region to manage associated company assets, and customer installations. Further interstate travel will also occur less frequently (ranging from monthly to quarterly).

Key Attributes, Skills and Experience

We understand that you may never have seen a mobile canning line before, we are a relatively new company and are the first mobile canning operation in Australia. There are a lot of the duties you can learn on the job, however, we have discovered the following attributes are perfect for this role.

  • Previous brewery or packaging experience
  • People skills: this role requires working with a number of stakeholders in a constantly moving environment. Excellent people skills is important to smooth operations.
  • Packaging Machinery troubleshooting experience
  • Physical fitness: Packaging maintenance and repairs require strength, coordination and endurance. It is a very physical role with long hours on your feet. 
  • Flexible schedule: Our clients sites are your workplace. This means that your week is entirely dependant on the schedule and can involve long days and overnight trips. When machinery downtime results in further time delays, its expected that you can manage your time appropriately. 
  • Work ethic: we are proud of our work and our clients product and have found that a positive attitude and a keen attention to detail are vital for this role.
  • Engineering degree with experience in manufacturing environments will be seen favourably. 
  • Self-directed: the goal of the role after a training period is complete is to be self directed in focus and scheduling. Your schedule is largely your own to plan and prioritise, and that comes with freedom and autonomy, but also accountability. 

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in Manufacturing engineering, mechatronics engineering or as a Maintenance Fitter
  • An interest in craft beer and knowledge in how it is made is very useful for this position.
  • Understanding of production brewery equipment.

Work Environment

Work environments vary according to the job however the employee is frequently exposed to:

  • Moving mechanical parts
  • Machinery noise (70-90dB)

Physical demands include:

  • Ability to continuously stand or walk
  • Ability to bend, squat and lift frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 25kg
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion functions in support of canning line operations

Travel requirements:

  • Ability to travel 4-5 days a week
  • Overnights are expected
