 Blackman's Brewery now operate three venues in their corner of Australia and are set to add a new beer garden to their original home in Torquay.

As well as the beer garden, they're looking to take on a new venue manager for the brewpub too.


JOB DESCRIPTION: VENUE MANAGER

Blackman’s Brewery is an award-winning Victorian brewery with three hospitality venues located in Torquay, Geelong and Ocean Grove, and beer distributed Australia wide. We are a tight-knit group of people who love what they do, and we are growing.

We are an independent, family run and owned brewery on the Surf Coast and Geelong. We make our beers with the best quality ingredients we can get our hands on and we give our beers the right amount of time in tank, we don't rush them through to meet deadlines. Our core range is made up of beers that cover a variety of flavours and styles, we want to make good beer for everyone. We love amazing hospitality and is our main goal for every person who walks through our doors to have a whole lot of fun.

We're now looking for a Superstar Venue Manager to lead our Torquay team of legends! This isn’t just any venue. It’s our beer spiritual home! It’s our crazy popular, original venue and we’re getting set to open up a brand new Blackman's Beer Garden right next door opening very soon. We’re a growing business with loads going on. Bring on summer!

Here are the primary responsibilities of the role: 

  • Lead by example from the front, being ‘hands on’ in all areas of the venue.
  • Ensure a fun, relaxed and beer focused environment for our beloved customers to enjoy beer & food whilst promoting Blackman’s Brewery values.
  • Motivate and lead staff, creating a professional yet fun workplace environment.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to ensure smooth running of the venue including managing emails, upholding Blackman’s standards, stocktake and ordering.
  • Ensure kitchen and food processes & standards are maintained and generally run a clean and safe venue.
  • Responsible for tills and safe reconciliation.
  • Proficient in keg and cellar operations.
  • Ability to keep a calm head at all times and run the venue, especially during extremely busy periods and during summer.

  • Outstanding communication skills. You must be able to give and follow instructions carefully, connect with and speak the Blackman's lingo and with a smile. Smiling is very important.
  • Flexibility. You must be able to fit well within our team but get on with things on your own.
  • Be seriously organised. Organisation is key, you must be able to demonstrate that you can work across a range of projects all at once, in a deliberate manner.
