At Good Beer Week 2019, we're combining two of our favourite things: Pint of Origin and blind tastings. We'll pit IPAs from each of the 16 regions against each other and you get to choose the beers that will be there on the night.
We've already held the vote for seven of the 16 regions and now it's time to decide the final nine representatives.
Below you'll find lists for Melbourne, Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania, Scandinavia, Continental Europe, Asia, USA and New Zealand. Pick your favourite three (or less) from each and the beers that get the most votes will go head to head on May 17.
There, in the back room at The Dan O'Connell, attendees will taste them all blind, guided by the Crafty team and guests, vote for their favourite, and crown the inaugural Pint of Origin Champion. Unfortunately, the event is sold out but we'd still love your help picking the lineup.
As you vote, it's worth noting a few things, particularly given the challenges in securing beers from some of the regions:
- The below lists don't represent every IPA from each state, city or region, but are either those from breweries who will be at Good Beer Week and have a readily available IPA of some form in can or bottle OR are IPAs we believe we can source from a particular region where local availability is scarce.
- We may not be able to source some of these so will work down the list of those with most votes if needs be.
- The below beers cover a broad spectrum of IPAs; unlike the IPA blind tastings we run for the site that are done tightly to style, here we thought we'd have some fun.
- In the case of Asia, a lack of packaged options means we'll fill growlers of the chosen beer at Captain Melville on the day.
Anyway, vote away and help us crown the best IPA of #PoO19 at Good Beer Week! We'll close voting and get sourcing on May 2.
