Capital & GWS Giants Launch Trees For Tomorrow 2023

Capital Brewing have been making great strides to brew sustainably and with their community in mind (you can read about it here).

Now, their latest campaign sees them pair up with the GWS Giants to launch Kick A Goal, Plant A Tree.

Full details in the media release below.

CAPITAL PARTNERS WITH GWS GIANTS TO LAUNCH THE 2023 TREES FOR TOMORROW CAMPAIGN WITH THE KICK A GOAL, PLANT A TREE PROGRAM

The partnership is an extension of Capital Brewing Co’s Trees For Tomorrow initiative with Jindabyne-based environmental charity Keep It Cool, pledging to plant a native Australian tree for every Capital Brewing Co beer purchased in the Snowy Mountains throughout the ski season.

“The Trees For Tomorrow initiative has grown from strength to strength over the last two years but now that we’re entering our third consecutive year, we’re taking it to new levels with the help of the GWS GIANTS and the 'Kick A Goal, Plant A Tree' program,” said Capital Brewing Co’s Co-Founder and Managing Director, Laurence Kain.

“The opportunity to partner with the GIANTS really kick-starts this year's campaign. They’re a key partner of ours and having the ability to reach the growing membership base of the GIANTS & AFL fans around the country with this environmentally friendly message is so valuable for us.”

“This year we’re planning on reaching our target of planting 5000 trees in total – a target we set when we launched the initiative in 2021. Since then, we have planted a total of 2036 trees, so we are well on our way to achieving our goal in 2023.”

Alongside committing to plant a native Australian tree for every goal kicked, extra trees will be committed for special milestone moments expected to take place across the season through individual players and the club.

Last year, the GIANTS AFL and AFWL teams kicked a combined 274 number of goals but with a new head coach at the helm, they’re expecting to knock that number out of the stadium this season.

GIANTS star forward Harry Himmelberg has endorsed the initiative and said it’s given him extra incentive to try and hit the scoreboard as many times as possible.

“This is a fantastic initiative by Capital Brewing Co who are wonderful partners of our club,” said Himmelberg.

“The Kick A Goal, Plant A Tree program means we'll plant a native Australian tree for every goal kicked by our teams across the season so you can be sure I'll be trying to kick as many as possible!”

The trees committed throughout the 'Kick A Goal, Plant A Tree' program will be planted in the Snowy Mountains, in an effort to restore the region, which has been subjected to significant environmental impact in recent years.

This will be achieved by drawing down carbon and creating new habitats for wildlife, reducing soil erosion, and increasing biodiversity and the recovery of species under threat, including the iconic Eucalyptus Viminalis (Ribbon Gum), which has been subjected to significant dieback in the Snowys.

Capital Brewing Co will also look to roll out their original ‘Buy Beer, Plant Trees’ program across participating bottle shops and pubs, expanding it beyond the Snowy Mountain region and into metro NSW in partnership with participating customers.

All trees committed across the initiative will be planted at Capital Brewing Co's annual Planting Day in October where the breweries staff, GWS GIANTS players and Keep It Cool staff get together to plant the trees then celebrate with a BBQ and a couple of cold Capital Brewing beers.
