Big Shed & Hawkers Strike Sales & Distro Partnership

Big Shed Brewing and Hawkers have struck a deal to distribute each other's beverages in their respective states in another example of indie brewers looking to work together in the face of tough market conditions.

Big Shed will handle sales and distribution of Hawkers' beers and other beverages in South Australia, with Hawkers' sales team adding Big Shed's portfolio to their offering in Victoria.

Hawkers founder and CEO Mazen Hajjar said the intention is to create "a stronger presence in the market and ensuring that craft beer lovers continue to have access to the best independent beers."

Both brewing companies have endured a challenging 2024, entering voluntary administration within days of each other in February, later exiting with the owners still in place and continuing to release new products to market.

More on the new partnership below.

Media Release: Big Shed Brewing and Hawkers Beer working together in the name of independent beer

Big Shed Brewing and Hawkers Beer are joining forces in South Australia and Victoria to support independent beer and streamline sales and distribution in their respective states. With the marketplace continuing to be challenging, the owners/founders of two of Australia’s most recognised independent craft breweries have chosen to collaborate for the sales and distribution of their products.

Big Shed Brewing Co-owner and Director Craig Basford (pictured above right) says: “We know we have to make every post a winner, so having a sales team from Hawkers keen to sell our products is a great way to kickstart Victoria.”

Hawkers Beer Founder and CEO, Mazen Hajjar (above left) added: “This partnership allows us to strengthen our reach in South Australia, while continuing to uphold the values of quality and independence that both our brands stand for. Together, we’re creating a stronger presence in the market and ensuring that craft beer lovers continue to have access to the best independent beers.”

While there is no plan to share resources beyond sales and distribution, both parties agree that this type of collaboration will help independent breweries remain competitive in an evolving industry.
