There’s no better way to enjoy a roadtrip than with a fresh pilsner (provided, of course, that such enjoyment is done once you’ve finished all the driving for the day). Freshwater Brewing’s own Road Trip Pils came courtesy of a long drive from Sydney’s Northern Beaches down to Bemboka and the home of Ryefield Hops, where the brewers were quickly enchanted by the fields in front of them.
Alongside using hops from the NSW growers, the Freshwater also picked out some undermodified malt to brew a lager that’s quite modern on the sustainability front but is incredibly traditional when it comes to flavour and enjoyment. There's a substantial bitternes that hits almost like an IPA, while Ryefield's hops bring floral and quite earthy tones with bready, biscuity and a clean malt base making for an incredibly moreish beer. In other words: it's a beer built to enjoy after a long day on the road.
