Falling into the dark and roasty category, the original Schwarzbiers are rumoured to be the oldest continuously brewed beer style in the world, one that translates simply to black beer. Layers of specialty malts meet a clean lager yeast, creating a very sessionable, robust, mid-percentage dark lager designed for drinking. And, in keeping with their extended lagering program, Brightstar's Schwarzbier also is gifted six weeks in tank to mature and become the best version of itself.
Once again, cleanliness and execution is on point. Layers of rich malts unlock cocoa, subtle coffee and roast characters. The body is robust but the balance ensures drinkability as the gentle malt sweetness sits against a touch of bitterness coming largely from the roast. If you know Brightstar's lagers, it goes without saying that Schwarz finishes clean, leaving a lingering trail of drinking chocolate in its wake.
