St Agnes-based SixTwelve Brewing have teamed up with Beer No Evil from Lonsdale to create an all-Adelaide collab of real heft. Old school hops Centennial and Chinook lead the charge in this 10.1 percent ABV triple West Coast IPA, with some Citra Spectrum (a liquid form of hops) and late additions of Strata chiming in as well. Both breweries are well known for their use of hops, with this monster combining their knowledge and skill when it comes to high ABV hop bombs.
The end result is a perfect mix of old school West Coast with new school hops and techniques. The double digit alcohol content is incredibly well hidden in a beer that's balanced throughout. Pine and resin start the party, before peach adds some sweetness. As you'd expected in such a beer, there's a thick, syrupy mouthfeel that supports the sweetness, while there's a hint of pineapple at the end as this TIPA manages to stop short of crushing the senses and, indeed, the head.
