You’ve got to admire a brewery that not only chooses to brew a Belgian IPA as their second ever beer but also includes it in their core range. No doubt that’s standard in downtown Brussels but busting it out in Brookvale in Sydney’s northern suburbs is a boss move.
It’s one that’s paid off too. According to Dave, Belgian IPA has been a solid seller at their taproom and in cans for years. Pouring golden amber with a voluminous head, there’s teasing aromas of spice and funky banana at first. On the palate, ripe saison esters and clovey phenols play nicely with orange citrus from Cascade hops and a touch of sweetness from the Belgian candi sugar.
Like IPA twins separated at birth and raised in different countries, Dad & Dave’s Citra & Mosaic IPA is something different again: a smashing, super smooth American West Coast IPA that’s double dry-hopped and downright delicious.
Dark amber in the glass and spiked with heavy doses of Citra and Mosaic, it’s a seductively smooth Westie, flush with lush hits of guava and juicy citrus. Best of all, it closes with a mighty, moreish pine finish but doesn’t overdo the bitter bite on the way out. It's a perennial favourite with Dad & Dave's customers and brewers alike, and it’s easy to see why.
