Before you get too sentimental, know that this beer isn’t named to evoke warm and fuzzy feelings of remembered nuptials. It’s named for the bike trails running through Wedding Bells State Forest. Woopi Brewing is all about celebrating the natural environment in the area and the active lifestyle that comes with it, and the local mountain biking crew are mad keen for Woopi beers.
Wedding Bells Pale is a classic West Coast pale built on Chinook, Amarillo and Cascade hops. Like the volunteers who keep the trails clear so riders can pick up serious speed, the malts stay out of the way so the hops can do their thing. Dry pine and grapefruit rule the track, and there’s a lovely citrus aroma that’s a little left of centre. Lemon myrtle, perhaps? Whatever it is, it’s a nice touch. A lean body leads to some earthy grain and spice joining with the bitterness at the end to give a satisfying finish.
The main thing this beer has in common with the forest's downhill trails? Once you’ve started, there’s no going back.
