When was the last time you went road trippin’? Cruising along without a clear plan, moving through different landscapes, taking detours to check out interesting sights, stopping wherever you feel like. It’s a special way to explore the world.
Road Trip’n IPA is different from a lot of IPAs out there. It’s not a tropical and low-bitterness hazy, as many IPAs are nowadays. It’s closer to a West Coast, but it’s not exactly as you’d expect from that camp, either. It brings enough malt presence – biscuit, and toasted malt, and caramel – to be reminiscent of an English IPA, but there’s a distinctly American herbal dankness from the all-US hop bill of Strata, Cascade, Chinook and Sequoia. Some background tropical fruits and a splatter of berry make it more modern than your traditional West Coast IPA, but there certainly is enough piney and pithy bitterness to put them in their place.
When the dust settles, there’s an earthiness as well, and you find yourself trying to keep track of everything you’ve experienced in Road Trip’n. I suppose all you can do is sniff, and taste, and let it take you where it takes you.
