The Albury leg of the Great Australian Beer Festival (GABF) returns to the city's QEII Square again in 2019.
It's taking place earlier in the year too, moving from the start of summer to October in 2019.
There will be 25 breweries on hand showcasing their beers, including all four major trophy winners from the 2019 Australian International Beer Awards:
- Balter (Champion Large Brewery)
- Green Beacon (Champion Medium Brewery)
- Blackman's (Champion Small Brewery)
- 4 Pines (Champion Australian Beer)
Joining the region's independent brewers and those from further afield will be an entertainment lineup headed by Triple J favourite Ruby Fields and The Potbelleez.
“It’s important to us that we combine the very best brewers from the region together with well-established and reputable brewmasters from around the country,” says festival director Mike Ward, overseeing GABF Albury for the third year.
“We’ll have over 150 beers and ciders to taste with the incredible brews from the Riverina,
out along the Murray, and throughout Kelly country and the Highlands a real drawcard for
visitors from outside the region.”
As well as live music, there will be beer cabaret, educational seminars and masterclasses led by Pete "Prof Pilsner" Mitcham, plus the return of the last year’s popular piano/cabaret bar.
“We’re stoked to have Ruby," Michael says. "She’s a great live performer and has had a huge year with
her Dinosaurs track voted number nine on Triple J’s Hottest 100. Her performances on Like A Version and at Laneway Fest were sensational.
“The Potbelleez, renowned for some of the biggest dance tracks over the past few years return to Albury after having to withdraw from their scheduled performance at the inaugural GABF in 2017 due to some tragic circumstances.”
