It's fair to say GABS has come a long way, from an event showcasing 20 new Aussie beers at The Local Taphouse in February 2011 to a behemoth that bestrides four cities across two countries over a few weeks between April and June.
The Auckland leg of the 2019 festival takes place at the ASB Showgrounds, spans two sessions and includes some of the best breweries and cider makers from both New Zealand and Australia.
There will be close to 100 unique festival beers and ciders brewed especially for the event and GABS attendees can wander through a marketplace packed full of breweries while enjoying some of the city’s best street food.
But it's not just about the beer and cider: you can dance like nobody's watching at the Silent Disco, learn more about the drink in your hand at the Craft College, and join a plethora of other pop-up games and events.
Among the food offerings will be the likes of Brotisserie, Manila Eats, The White Lady, Taco Loco, Brooklyn Dogs, Mahurangi Oysters, Monsoon Poon, House of Dumplings, Paella Pan, Double Dutch Fries.
