The arrival of the Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival is always a cause for celebration, but given the challenges and cancellations the organisers have had to deal with over the past couple of years we suspect 2022 could be rather spectacular.
Taking place across four themed sessions from July 15 to 17 at the Adelaide Showground, it's shaping up as an epic weekend however you slice it.
There will be more than 100 brewers, cidermakers, distillers and winemakers showcasing their wares.
Heading south for winter will be the likes of Range, Mountain Culture, Dainton, BentSpoke, Fox Friday and Otherside, Moon Dog, Hop Nation, Young Henrys and Fixation alongside home state favourites such as Big Shed, Prancing Pony and Pirate Life.
Others making their maiden voyage to the festival are Banks, Dollar Bill, Deeds, Killer Sprocket, Heaps Normal, Noodledoof, Wild Life, The Mill, Philter, Better Beer, Nowhereman, Otherside, Matso’s and locals Bowden and Kick Back. Other locals include Coopers, Drink Easy award-winners Uraidla, Barossa-based Western Ridge, southeast brewers Loophole, and western suburbs trendsetters Shapeshifter.
On the not-so-local front, the team from the Gilbert Street Hotel will be bringing their container to pour beer from around 30 international brewers, ranging from Wisconsin's The Brewing Projekt to the UK's Left Handed Giant and Tiny Rebel to Double Vision from New Zealand.
See the full list of brewers confirmed for the festival here.
If you're not into the grain, take comfort in the grape as Pure Wine Co’s Wine Village features top drops from around SA, including Saint & Scholar, Longview, Keasler, Fox Creek and Mitchell.
Hungry? You bet you will be when dozens of Australia's finest BBQ chefs are cooking up a storm.
Two stages will host a lineup of bands and DJs, including the likes of Skegss, The Smith Street Band, Bodyjar, Private Function, Wagons and Jess Locke. And, in a tribute to recently passed Big Day Out promoter Ken West, they'll be setting up an honorary dive bar, 'The Last Resort', complete with shots of JD.
The epic Pirate Life Rec Centre will feature a skateboarding ramp with pro skaters, big screen TV to watch the football, pinball machines, and a truck pouring brewery-fresh bee, while Big Shed's House of Fun will have an on-site microbrewery, DJs and one-off collaborations.
Then there's wrestling, brewer and BBQ masterclasses, The Beer Bod wet t-shirt championships, the Royal Adelaide Beer & Cider Awards, and, and, and...you get the picture!
The Crafty Pint will be in town presenting the Air Guitar Championships too. If you fancy throwing shapes on the main stage, we'll be opening registrations nearer the time.
