Ever since they opened a new production brewery in nearby Murwillumbah, the original Stone & Wood brewery in Byron Bay has shed its original image of being, well, just a shed and has become a place which welcomes guests into what represents a real home than a spiritual one.
It's now the place where all the fun stuff happens; the small batch brews, the tours, the fundraisers and the events. And no event is bigger on the Stone & Wood calendar than the Festival of the Stone.
It follows the brewing of their annual Stone Beer – a homage to days of yore where hot rocks were used during the brewing process – and is the official release party for it.
This year, as well as the focus on the beer, they're packing the evening with top live music from bands Kingswood, Polish Club, MT Warning, Your Mates DJ and kids' favourite Bunny Racket.
The gates will be opened to a fleet of food trucks covering the carnivores, the vegetarians and everyone in between; look out for JR’s Smokehouse, Baylato, Pizza Loca, Pearl of the Quarter, The Backyard Chef and more.
All profits from the beer and ticket sales will go to the brewery's Integrated Community Program which, this year, will see money donated to Liberation Larder and Bay FM. It's very much a family-friendly and community-minded event so everyone and anyone is encouraged to come along and share in the good vibes.
Festival of the Stone 2017 runs from 4pm to 10pm and you can book a ticket here.
