The Mill Brewery Go Greener

The Mill Brewery recently installed a significant number of solar panels on their Thomastown production site.

Below is the media release announcing the news.

The Mill Brewery's Solar Install

In 2022, The Mill Brewery in Melbourne invested in a 40kW solar system for their production brewery in Thomastown, installing 84 solar panels on their roof. The installation, provided by Energis has been in operation for nearly 9 months, already producing enough electricity to offset over 50% of their electricity usage, or the equivalent of planting 426 trees, saving nearly 22 tonnes of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.

“The goal to become more sustainable as we grow was always important to me, and we believe our customers appreciate the measures we’ve taken to lower our impact on the environment by reducing our carbon footprint,” says founder Mirek Aldridge. “We’ve been sending our spent grain to a local farmer for six years now, which is used to feed livestock. But with the opening of our larger production site in 2021, we knew we wanted to think bigger.”

The Mill’s next goal towards sustainability is to invest in battery storage to better utilise the clean energy they are obtaining, and to look into various water saving measures for their brewhouse.
