They say if brewers truly want to test another’s proficiency, they’ll order a pilsner. The classic European lager is hard to make well and leaves nowhere for imperfections to hide. If you mess up, you can’t just throw more hops or lactose or a jam donut at it.
As brewmaster Chuck Hahn tells it, he perfected this pilsner with countless test batches on a Grainfather kit in his home garage (his neighbours got very excited) before taking it to the shiny new brewhouse in St Peters co-owned with son Scott.
Dubbed a "Remastered Classic" on the can, Chuck’s German-style pils ticks all the boxes. Vibrant gold in the glass with a nice, creamy head: check. Moreish malt body: no worries. Heady noble hop characters from Northern Brewer and Saaz: yes, please.
Refreshing and refined, this is a lovely pilsner to kick off the core range.
