Out on the patio we'd sit,
And the humidity we'd breathe,
We'd watch the lightning crack over canefields
Laugh and think, this is Australia.†
This is a pale ale that can tickle discerning tastebuds, but don’t waste your time thinking too much about it. I could talk about the Fortnight, Ekuanot and Mosaic hops, or about the stewed stonefruit characters with just a touch of those upper palate lychee and floral notes, or about the crystal malt that infuses the hop flavours with a richness like red soil.
Or I could say it’s tasty, but not too sweet. Bitter, but nothing that’ll knock your teeth out. Good out of a schooner, but better out of the can while sitting on the patio.
†If not for the song, at least watch this film clip for the quality 1985 video editing, facial expressions and hand actions. You won’t be disappointed.
