To cap off a long year with a lot of limited releases, Hop Nation’s final release of 2022 is an experiment. Experiment 102 to be exact, with the IPA a part of the Bract Brewing Programme, which sees a select group of breweries from across the globe partner with NZ Hops as part of the hop-growing collective’s breeding programme (although without wanting to start an international grammar incident, I think it’s “program” in Australia).
As you may have gathered from the name, the experimental hop in question is NZ102 and the vessel of choice to bring it to life is a dense hazy IPA. It certainly seems to be a hop that carries many of the flavours modern craft beer drinkers are seeking out too, with Experiment 102 dishing out a dazzling juicy mix of melon, pineapple lollies and mandarin with a smooth slightly dank finish.
