Across the planet, the reaction to the unfolding bushfire crisis across Australia has been phenomenal. It's been the same in the local beer world too, with fundraisers taking place on a daily basis – we've got all we know about listed here.
We were approached by people in the industry keen to coordinate a national effort around fundraising too – the more events across the country at the same time, the more of an impact we can have.
So, we've set up Beer For Bushfire Relief: a day of fundraisers across the country on January 18. You can find details of all the events here and we'll by updating this page as and when we're notified of more.
We're also including a list of beer businesses directly impacted by the fires along with contact details for the owners if anyone would like to get in touch to assist them by buying stock or working on collaborative events.
On top of that, there is a working group of brewers and suppliers, assisted by the Independent Brewers Association, in discussion around creating a beer to be sold to raise funds like Sierra Nevada's Resilience IPA. This united 1,400 brewers to raise money in support of those affected by California's Camp Fire.
If you want to be part of the efforts, please get in touch with details of your plans. If you've got some other fundraising effort going on, please send details to firstname.lastname@example.org so we can include them in our existing event list.
We aren't dictating where anyone's funds should be directed, but please let us know where you'll be sending yours so we can let people know.
