Melbourne-based Urban Alley and Fox Hat from South Australia have claimed "World's Best" titles at the World Beer Awards 2024. The winners in the annual awards, which is presented by TheDrinksReport.com, were announced at a ceremony in Norwich, England.
Urban Alley's Urban Draught topped the Golden Ale category, just a few days after the brewery landed two gold medals at the 2024 Indies in Perth for Slapshot Pale Ale (a past World Beer Cup bronze medalist) and Twin Flames Hazy Double IPA.
For Fox Hat, the latest title builds on years of awards success for their Mongrel series of stouts. Phat Mongrel's World's Best Oatmeal Stout win comes just weeks after Rusty Mongrel rum barrel-aged imperial stout won Champion Alternate Grain Beer/ Specialty at the Royal Adelaide Beer & Cider Awards, a trophy they had picked up 12 months earlier with their Bearded Mongrel bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout.
