...wait a second. Vienna IPA? What’s all this then? Sure, the beer might be made entirely with Vienna malt, but it is quite a bit more substantial than such lagers thanks to its 6.5 percent ABV, while it's hopped with Apollo, Cryo Idaho 7, and Cryo Mosaic. So while you’ll find plenty of sweet, brioche-like notes and touches of toffee, there’s a substantial slice of tropical fruit to be found alongside a hefty dankness and quite a bitter finish.
From The Boroughs, meanwhile, is a more traditionally built “London ESB,” which was brewed with the folks at Hackney Brewery. OK, we say traditional, but the beer was brewed with Australia’s own Enigma hops (and come to think of it, the High Country brewery is a long way from London). So while there’s plenty of spice, herbal, and floral characters at play, there's also a fair bit of redcurrant, some melon, and further fruit thanks to a touch of perfumey orange rind. Meanwhile, when it comes to malt, things are back on a more classic path thanks to roasted tones and soft toffee sweetness.
