The Orange Goblin has long been a champion for The Grifter Brewing Co and while the flagship continues to fly high for the Marrickville brewery, something blue joined their arsenal in time for spring 2024. But while XPA might be a relatively new kid on the block for TGBC, its origins stretch back to a decade before its arrival, with Southern Lord, Sunshine, and the likes of the Larrikin all successive variations as the brewers took what they learned, made adjustments, and continued on their quest for perfection.
What an expression of hops it is too, with XPA delivering loads of tropical fruit courtesy of rockmelon, pineapple, and mango, while citrus makes its presence felt as well. Pouring with the softest haze, there are further touches of stone fruit, while a lean and dry finish with a soft bitterness all come together to show that while a decade might be close to an eternity in craft beer terms, the best things do indeed come to those who wait.
