Shouting lager, lager, lager, etc.*
There's been something bittersweet going on in 2021. Grifter have said goodbye to their yellow-clad pilsner tinnies, and welcomed a pool-table-green-clad European inspired lager to their core range.
The inclusion of Galaxy hops has new world hop aromas dancing in the background - a clean peachiness accompanied by light florals - but the Saaz and Motueka keep everything firmly grounded in familiar lager territory with their noble hop characteristics. A touch of sweetness hits the tongue among the pilsner malt character and water cracker dryness, but overall you’re still looking at a simple and sinkable bevvy.
*It seems we at the Crafty Pint can’t say the word ‘lager’ without mentioning Born Slippy, check out the end of this article for five other lagerific anthems according to five Aussie brewers.
