Bailey Brewing celebrate their fourth birthday with a beer that smoothly runs towards the boundary: the brewery’s cricket-loving patriarch Geoff Bailey calls the four on the label, looking a little like a Test Match figurine.
The beer is an oat cream IPA featuring a quartet of modern US and NZ hops, an oat-heavy profile, and a generous lactose addition; here is a celebration that wants its birthday cake and will very likely drink it too!
The hop combo’s crushed yellow peach, slippery mango curls, post-mix lemonade and vanilla cream blend seamlessly. Meanwhile, the lactose’s silky sweetness never dominates, instead keeping a playful throughline in a beer that wisely shows the restraint of a late order nightwatchman.
