Sobremesa have brought back a couple of their old favourites, with freshly-tweaked batches of table saison and bière de coupage out in the world.
No Frills is designed to be your everyday table saison: the one you bring to a work lunch with people who don’t drink craft beer then spend the entire time in a state of exasperation explaining the beauty of a 3.4 percent ABV beer that can pair with any plate that appears. Or a better idea might be to present the beer at the table and let the stainless-fermented and Brett-spiked bottle do the talking. After all, with such a lovely golden straw colour, foamy head, and blend of lemon, peach and nashi pear sliding across the palate, who could argue?
Dumpster Diving, meanwhile, is a bière de coupage – a blend of ten-month-old and ten-week-old saison that was dry-hopped with Mystic hops from the UK and Lemondrop from America. Here, my first thought was one of fizzy homemade lemonade without the sweetness, before turning to the passionfruit, orange, earthiness and an underlying funk and light acidity.
