As anyone who's travelled across The Ditch over the past decade or so knows well, there's one heck of a beer scene in New Zealand.
Many of the finest have appeared on these shores over that time, but to sample far more you need to head to Aotearoa to sample at source (or, in the case of many Aussies, at one of the country's excellent beer festivals).
For anyone keen to delve deep inside the country's beer culture – to enjoy behind-the-scenes experiences, get up close and personal with many of the people that shape beer in NZ, and to visit a unique festival along the way – The Ultimate Craft Beer Tour Of New Zealand is the way to go.
Curated by avowed craft beer lover and travel manager Bryce Read – in conjunction with The Crafty Pint team – this ten-day exclusive takes in visits to the likes of Liberty, Hallertau, 8 Wired, Sawmill, Brewaucracy, Bootleg, Croucher, North End, Double Vision, and Garage Project before rocking up to Nelson Marchfest at the height of hop harvest.
Along the way, as well as the beers, tours, and insight from brewers, there are inclusive lunches, beer dinners, a tour of Nelson's famed hop region, tastings and activities that step outside beer – axe-hurling, anyone?
The small group, ten-day tour starts in Auckland on March 29, in the company of Liberty, Hallertau, 8 Wired, Sawmill and others before wending its way to Wellington via Rotorua (including a cultural experience in the forest). In the capital, you'll get to spend time at breweries including Garage Project, Duncans and Fork and Brewer, with North End founder Kieran Haslett-Moore hosting one of his famed dinners at Salt and Wood.
After flying to the South Island, a hop farm tour, a visit to the country's oldest pub, and entry to Marchfest awaits, before it's time to turn for home.
The tour is fully escorted from Auckland, with the price covering 4-star accommodation throughout, daily breakfast, travel on a luxury coach, a number of lunches, dinners, and tastings, plus all transfers. Flights in and out of NZ are not included.
You can check out the full itinerary here.
