A lot of people say the New Zealand craft beer scene is ahead of its Australian counterpart, but how could you ever say definitively? Well, a 34 beer trans-Tasman blind taste-off would seem like a pretty good way to start.
On Saturday 29 August at Forester’s Hall, that’s exactly what’s happening as they present some of the best of both sides and leave you to do the judging.
There’ll be no labels and, using a pretty simple 1-5 scale system you pick the beers solely by how much you enjoy them. It kicks off a t12pm and the tasting can be done at your pace any time throughout the afternoon, but it needs to be completed by 5pm before the winning five beers are announced.
Here’s who you’ll have to pick from…

- Barrow Boys Brewing
- Boatrocker Brewery
- Cavalier Brewing

- Feral Brewing Co
- Four Pines Brewing Co
- Hawkers Brewery
