For its events during the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, the team at The Crafty Squire has looked back in time for inspiration and found what they were after in the journey of their eponymous brewer.
A fine feast has been created by the chefs, with each of the five courses representing a country that James Squire purportedly visited on his trip to Australia with the First Fleet. It will be somewhat fusion food, with the ingredients sourced as locally as possible to demonstrate how modern Australian cuisine has been influenced by other countries and long journeys such as undertaken by Mr Squire.
Naturally, each course will be paired with an ale or cider and a tall tale or two from the in-house brew master about how James Squire came to be an important beer name Down Under.
There are three sessions running through the MFWF:
- Saturday March 5, 12pm
- Sunday March 6, 12pm
- Saturday March 12, 12pm
