Striking beers and striking artwork are par for the course for anything that comes with the Dainton Family Brewery name on it, but their next release is something extra special. It's the 2016 release of the Manhattan Ale, a beer first brewed in 2015 in as a collaboration but which has now been, and will forever more be, brewed as a Dainton-only release.
The beer itself is a 9.7 percent ABV Abbey ale that's been ageing in barrels that were formerly used to house Starward Whiskey and, before that, Pedro Ximenez. It's more than likely to be a complex beast and it's also more than likely to be in high demand as there's but a single keg of it available on the mainland.
That keg will be tapped on Friday March 11 at Woody's Dive Bar (upstairs at Forrester's Hall) as part of a tap takeover and celebration of all things Dainton. That'll mean beer specials, giveaways – one of which is a brew day – and prizes for Best Dress (the theme is moustaches and top hats). The inimitable brewer Dan Dainton will be there to ensure you're enjoying yourself.
Official festivities begin at 7pm.
