Beer events at Murray's tend to be sizeable affairs, spanning days or weeks and incorporating plenty of new beer releases. And when it comes to celebrating the world's biggest beer festival, it's a given.
Over the weekend of October 1-2, the brewery at Bob's Farm will be hosting its own version of Oktoberfest. The brewers (pictured above) have concocted three new German beers – an Oktoberfest-style, a Schwarzbier and another that's not yet ready to be revealed – which will all be released for the first time, while the the kitchen will be slinging gourmet sausages and house-made pretzels, amongst other things.
Live entertainment will carry though the weekend with free ‘Rocktoberfest’ concerts; Crocq Trio Band, headlines things on the Satruday with an R&B & Soul concert while Sunday's headline will be the indie/roots vibe of Novocastrian Tom Blake.
A brewery bus runs from Nelson Bay and costs just $5, though you'll need to book a spot by contacting 4982 6411 or visiting the Murray's website.
Otherwise, it's all free entry over the long weekend (including Monday) from 10am until 6pm each day. And it's family-friendly.
